CaliVita® presents Spirulina Chlorella Plus for active people, including those who train and work on their fitness goals. Unlike Purest Sea Essence, which contains spirulina alone, this product combines two algae with green plants. One tablet provides two hundred and fifty milligrams each of spirulina and chlorella, and one hundred milligrams each of wheatgrass and alfalfa. Each ingredient contributes something different. Spirulina naturally contains protein, which provides amino acids the body needs to build tissues. It also contains phycocyanin, its distinctive blue pigment. Chlorella is a green microalga containing chlorophyll, the green plant pigment. CaliVita® links both algae with vitality and chlorella with reducing tiredness. Wheatgrass is made from young wheat shoots and contributes chlorophyll and carotenoids, natural plant pigments. Alfalfa provides flavonoids, another group of natural plant compounds, as well as carotenoids. Together they broaden the range of plant compounds in the tablet. CaliVita® also adds a proprietary blend of green vegetables: cabbage, spinach, parsley, Brussels sprouts, aloe, and broccoli. Marigold and tomato extracts contribute lutein and lycopene, pigments that naturally occur in plants. The manufacturer recommends one tablet a day, half an hour before a meal.
